Endless Embroidery

unikatissima Endless Embroidery

Ok, I must admit that the picture doesn’t look like endless embroidery, but it is: I designed the pattern (see links below) so that you can repeat it endlessly.
Besides the others embroideries I told about I like this so much because you can fill shapes with.
What shapes?
Well, you can sew a simple purse and completely embroider the flap. Or the lid of a round box (the item on the picture was meant to cover a lid). Or a pillow. Or along the neckline of a t-shirt. Or a linen tote.
It doesn’t matter what it is, (at the latest:)) after embroidering it it will be a very special item.

unikatissima Endless Embroidery Although I liked the item on the photo on top I wanted to see how it looks if I decrease the colour contrast of fabric and embroidery.
Hm, I like both ;-)

unikatissima Endless Embroidery Here I’m at work: in the foreground you can see my magazine embroidery hoop: it’s still fully functional ;-)
On the left top you see the iron-on copy of the pattern: I bought such an iron-on transfer pencil to trace the pattern and then iron it on the fabric. I even found a tutorial for this.
Because I’m not a good embroiderer and didn’t really trust the washability of the pencil I simply ironed the pattern on the wrong side of the fabric and embroidered it this way – it worked fine. I only had to turn my work often.
And because I made it on impulse I embroidered with sewing thread. It must look much better with embroidery floss.
By the way, the thick dots are French knots, it was fun to embroider them into the little squares.

In the file with the pattern (see links below) you will find the pattern as endless version (simply place side by side in both directions) as well as edging and border.
Now you can embroider all sorts of things to your liking from top to bottom or only partially ;-)

It’s as always: Simply try it out! ;-)

I wish you a lot of fun with it,
Susann

Fabric Inchie Collage

dotslifeandart Fabric Inchie Collage

I told before how you can make matching, but not equal paper inchies*.

Here she shows how to make wondeful fabric inchies.
It must be a lot of fun.

* What is an inchie? An Inchie is a 1″ square of art. They are made from paper or fabric and then embellished in innumerable ways (see links below).

Faux Quilt Votives

Just Something I Made Faux Quilt Votives

I find this idea really great, too: simply scan old quilts, print, sew a little and wrap around a votive ;-)
It’s a little bit as with the Fabric/Paper Place Mat.
And I think that it would look wonderful, too, with a paper Crazy Quilt!

By the way: the paper gets more transparent when you paint it slightly with oil.
It will smell a while, but then the smell disappears ;-)

On the page she also shows how to print the quilt picture onto inkjet T-shirt transfer and embellish leather with it – great!

When I saw these place mats I was compleeetly thrilled: that’s exactly what I love so much!
She seems to use as well fabric as paper – many of these self coloured.
And I do love to work with paper, e.g. at my paper shopping bag or my paper Crazy Quilt ;-)

Spirograph Embroidery

Doesn’t this look most beautiful?
I like the idea to embroider patterns of a Spirograph very much :))

What you can embellish!
And you can embroider by hand or machine, on fabric or paper, single or multi-coloured etc. etc.
Great!

Coloured Cross Stitch Templates

AllFreeCrafts Colored Cross Stitch Templates

So, slowly we can give ourselves over to everyday life again – e.g. to a nice cross stitch pattern ;-)
However you can find here other cross stitch patterns, too.
You can busy yourself with them for years ;-))

Beaded Art Dolls

craftster Coral Beaded Art Doll

On the photo is one of the first Beaded Art Dolls I’ve ever seen and it impressed me deeply.
I always wanted to make one but haven’t had the time yet.
Up until now I only made my freeform bead embroidery ;-)

But I looked for ‘Bead Art Doll’ already ;-)
In doing so I found a mermaid and a butterfly craftalong (in a craftalong several people work on the same project and compare notes). Furthermore I found a most beautiful bird, a blog entry on the subject of ‘Beaded Art Dolls’ and several wonderful finished Beaded Art Dolls, where I like most the Wise One and the little Alien Doll.

If you want to make one, too, you can get patterns for the dolls here.

Beaded Embroidery Stitches

Actually Advent should be a time of contemplativeness and so it should exactly be the right time to try something fiddly as beaded embroidery.

For those who experience a less contemplative Advent: you will have time to try it later, too ;-))
And if you don’t have beads at hand at the moment, try some ‘normal’ embroidery ;-)

On the photo you see a beaded cross stitch, I find it cute and put it on my list of things-to-try.
