Garum

Pompeii Food and Drink Garum

Lately I read several historical novels about Caesar and Cicero – and at some point they all mention Garum – the notorious fish sauce which the old Romans seem to have poured over nearly everything (I understand that it was the ancient ketchup ;-)).
That’s why I wanted to know whether the recipe is still known.
It is.
And if you will excuse me I stick to ketchup.
;-))

Camera as Flowerpot

Photojojo Camera as Flowerpot

What a great idea to plant old cameras!
I still have some and old lenses, some of which are broken and I don’t need them anymore, but I can’t part with them.
Perhaps I shouldn’t and instead plant them.
Hm, on the other hand I have a brown thumb, it can therefore get difficult to plant them.
;-))

Tea Dyed Doily Scarf

flickr myauntdebbie - Doily Scarf

I must confess that in fact I like to crochet doilies – but I don’t want to have them, because I don’t have a clue about what to do with them ;-).
That’s perhaps the reason why I like so much putting together things from squares or the like ;-))

Well, now I can make me such a doily scarf ;-)
I think that you can very well hand-dye it with tea or coffee.

Ice Votives

At the moment we’re jittering from the cold here – what better time to make some most beautiful votives from ice for the balcony or the garden?

When it get’s warm again we will be making jewelry from ice again and at every time we can make a lot of things from the plastic bottles ;-)

Perfect Weight

craftster Perfect Scale

I told already that want to lose weight before I will crochet the bolero but I don’t find it easy.
How much better must it be if the scales tell me that my weight is ‘perfect’?
;-)

She made the scales with glass mosaic tiles but I think that it should be possible with selfmade mosaic tiles from polymer clay or glass paints or from plaster, resp. Or of course with a paper collage, best as paper crazy quilt. Or with eggshells.
;-))

Nature Bracelets

mayamade nature bracelets

What a cute idea: Before going for a walk you take a piece of tape around your wrist (sticky side at the outside! ;-)) and while walking you stick on a lot of beautiful leaves and flowers.
When you’re coming home you have a wonderful nature bracelet.

She seems to have done this in springtime but the fall leaves also look great.
And by the way you can cut open the tape at home and use it for a card ;-))

Homemade Lip Gloss

craftster Lip Gloss

I always have dry lips, sometimes more, sometimes less, but always dry.
Therefore I was glad to find the self-made lip gloss, because I will know what the ingredients are.
However I was a little unsure concerning the quantity of the ingredients, so I looked for more lip gloss recipes.
I think that the ‘Basic Lip Gloss Formula’ on the page was used for the lip gloss on the photo.

Let’s see how it works on my lips ;-))

Corrugated Leaves

textilefusion Corrugated Leaves

Well, fall is coming.
The leaves look still beautiful outside, but soon they will be gone and then you can fall back on your own – if you like even evergreen – leaves.
There’s something to be said for that ;-))

By the way I imagine them also nice as pin.
Made e.g. with some stash yarn matching your purse.
