unikatissima Kumihimo Flower Hair Pin

I found a site with a cute Kumihimo flower hair pin that is made from a beautiful Japanese knot.

On the photo you can see my Kumihimo cord which I want to use to make such a Kumihimo flower but the cord isn’t finished, yet.
I think that I will embellish it later with some beads because the single-coloured cord will possibly look bland.

French Flower Beading

Recently I’ve seen these fantastic beaded flowers at craftster.
Usually I’m not one for beaded flowers but I find these so beautiful.
The thread is no tutorial and it seems that she hasn’t written one yet (I’d say that she don’t want to) but somewhere in the comments they mention a basic tutorial for French flower beading that I found great at first sight.

I found some ‘dolls’ that I find really beautiful: it must be great fun to make them: Crazy Quilt, embroidery, sewing, Shisha stitches, all included.

Beaded Freeform Wire Crochet

I really love freeform and freeform crochet and therefore I found of course the ~~instruction on how to crochet a freeform necklace with wire and beads~~ instruction on how to crochet a freeform necklace with wire and beadsinteresting.
I haven’t tried it yet because I (still) have no jewelry wire and she wrote that her wire has since gone all rusty – it doesn’t have to come to this.
I will make the necklace one day!

Elissahearts from Polymer Clay

Once I played around with the Elissahearts and found them wonderful.
I didn’t work with the heart mould but just put both halves together. That’s not good because they can more easily break apart.
Just try it youself ;-)

Sweater Scarf

Once I found an instruction on how to make a scarf from felted old sweaters but the website doesn’t exist anymore.

That’s how they did it:

Wash sweaters from 100% wool (mohair works fine, too) with some laundry detergent.
Felt in dryer.
Felting makes the fabric so dense that it doesn’t unravel when cut.
Cut stripes from the sweaters in the width you want the scarf to be.
The lengths will vary depending on the part of the sweater where you cut the piece.
In the instruction they used mainly the arms.
Eventually simply sew the pieces together, whether with a sewing machine or by hand.
The seam can be used as a decorating element.
The scarf can subsequently be embellished: with buttons, felted flowers, beads, pom-poms, fringes, embroidery and so on.

In fact I would like to have a cardigan-kind garment made with this technique, no scarf.
Therefore I went to several second hand stores to look for wool sweaters but found mostly sweaters from artificial material which don’t felt.
But I stay tuned ;-)

Weave Wrapped Bead Buttons

Once I found an instruction on making buttons by weave wrapping wooden beads and tried it immediatley with different weave patterns: It is great!
I really like the weave wrapping of the buttons and find that the results are too beautiful to be used as buttons, I like them more as beads ;-)

Beaded Tubular Net

For a certain time I worked tubular nets, e.g. to make necklaces like the ones on the photo.
I find them beautiful and that a simply eye catcher like the beaded freeform bead is enough. Additionally they are wonderful soft because the tubular net is so elastic.

Row Counter Bracelet

When knitting or crocheting you must often count the rows.
I have seen people who kept checklists in a very disciplined way, but personally I find this taking-the-pen-and-sketching-a-checkmark-on-the-list bothersome, the more so as one needs a table for this (at least I need it ;-)).
But not if you’re making a row counter bracelet (ok, you must leave your work beside, but you don’t need a table ;-)).
I didn’t make one yet, but I found the tutorial very good.

I’m sure that you can make the beads yourself, e.g. from polymer clay or felt (but felted beads may be too lightweight ?!)
