Cabled I-cord (Kind of)

unikatissima Cabled I-cord (Kind of)

I’ve seen everywhere the beautiful cabled bags and thought that a filled I-cord isn’t so suitable. And then two ideas collided in my head again, this time the I-cord and cabling ;-)

The result is a kind of I-cord which is cabled on both sides but is made with only two needles (plus an auxiliary needle for the cabling).

I created a PDF file (ca. 400 KB) with a photo tutorial that you can download.

Have much fun with it!

Knitting Pattern ‘Little Berries’

unikatissima Knitting Pattern Little Berries

I always like to look for (among other things! ;-)) knitting stitches and lately two stitches ‘collided’ in my head: mosaic (slip-stitch) knitting and cabling.
When I tried it out I was hooked ;-))

unikatissima Knitting Pattern Little Berries By the way, I also like it single coloured :))

I created a PDF file (ca. 350 KB) for you to download so that you can amuse yourself with this stitch, too.
The file contains unikatissima’s knitting pattern ‘little berries’, a photo step-by-step instruction for one of the stitches, some ideas about increasing and decreasing the pattern and some project ideas.

Have much fun knitting it!

P.S.: If you’re knitting the pattern you implicitly agree to my terms of use which you can find in the PDF file.
Mainly it says that you may sell products knitted with my pattern but not give away the file itself.

Bolero and Shrug Patterns

Jessica Tromp Bolero and Shrug Patterns

I surfed the internet a little bit and found a website with lots of most beautiful Bolero and Shrug patterns, as well knitted as well crocheted.
But of course you can make other clothes from the single crochet patterns ;-)

I find best on shrugs that they don’t take so long to make as sweaters and the like ;-))
Although I feel the same constriction about shrug-making as for the crocheted Bolero: first I want to lose some (more) weight.
A fine excuse, isn’t it? ;-))

Addendum: it seems that Jessica Tromp put the pattern somewhere else: 60 bolero-crochet-patterns.
You find the photo under bolero 6a and directly to the right the directions on making the bolero.

The instruction for the medaillon seems to be further up on the same site where the yellow bolero is.
This is the direct link, but it doesn’t work for me.

Happy crochet :)

Cabling Without Cable Needle

unikatissima Cabling Without Cable Needle

Rcently I cable-knitted a little bit, namely a pattern where I not only cable every so often. At some point I was a little unnerved from always have to pick-up-the-cable-needle-cable-knit, especially because my cable needle is very fine and tends to slip out of the picked-up stitches.
The entry about cabling without a cable needle was a real help to me.
It would certainly help to finish my long list of cable patterns that I have already presented ;-)

In the beginning I found it a little difficult but it is always the same: Practice makes perfect.
But I wouldn’t dare to try it in a shaking bus ;-)

Knitted Flowers

mypicot Knitted Flower

I liked the knitted rose best of all knitted flowers, that’s why I tried to knit it.
I thought that it must look cute with my white scarf.
And because it doesn’t need much thread it is great for stash use-up ;-)

unikatissima Knitted Flower That is my flower and I’m absolutely sure that I knitted it following the instructions.
Although I like it, I think that it looks more like a hyperbolic plane or a carnation flower than a rose.

I ask myself if this has to do with the fact that I have brown thumbs? ;-))
