Individually Shaped Cards

unikatissima Shaped Card

I found an instruction on how to make shaped cards.
I really liked the flower cards e.g., but I’m more one for thinking in words than in pictures. All I could think about when needing a ‘Get well soon card’ was therefore making a card from the letters G and B (in German, ‘Get well soon’ is ‘Gute Besserung’) ;-)

I joined them with an embroidery stitch (running stitch back and forth) and embroidered some little ‘flowers’ ( I looove embroidery on paper ;-)).

I like it and I hope that it ‘helps’ ;-)

Needle Felted Bracelet

theartofmegan Needle Felted Loop Bracelet

I found a good tutorial again, this time about how to make a needle felted bracelet.

I put it directly on my list, because I think it is great as a base that can be embellished e.g. with bead embroidered Paisleys or bead picots but also with ‘just-embroidery’ like the cross stitch heart, the freeform embroidery or the Embroidery Crust.
Additionally you can make matching earrings and a pendant for a necklace.

Crayon Encaustic

A long time ago I found an instruction for encaustic for poor.
On the photo you see one of the tries I made – I like it ;-))

I think that I will have to do it once more.

Wire Wrapped Hardware

When seeing this tutorial on how to make jewelry from hardware store stuff I feel the urge to drive to the next hardware store immediately and rummage around.
But I will stay strong and wait until the next occasion.
Or perhaps I just sneak off to my basement…
;-)))

String Decorated Ornaments

crealic String Decorated Ornament

A nice method to create beautiful Christmas tree ornaments (and much more) shows this tutorial on how to make string decorated ornaments (French).

It’s very easy:

  1. You choose the element to be decorated ((foam) sphere, box, paper bag etc.).
  2. Paint the pattern on with PVA glue (if necessary after sketching them with a pen).
  3. Put the string on the glue and fix with pins. The glue dries transparently.
  4. After the glue has dried, take away the pins and paint your ornament (or box or what ever you decorated). You can paint the string in another colour than the element. Additionally you can paint some little decorative patterns to lighten the background.

Best if you check the photos of the instruction, they explain every thing very well.

Beaded Brooch

Are you still looking for a quick but personal gift for a friend?
How about a beaded brooch?
She describes with good pictures how to create a brooch from wire and beads and a lucky charm.
It should be possibl to create pendants or earrings in the same way.
I already have the materials … ;-)

River Troll Ring

Chicken Betty River Troll Ring

Needless to say that you can also put jewelry into the advent calendar boxes, such as this lovely River Troll Ring.
It looks as if you could make quasi on the spur of the moment and that it would always be a unique and personal item.
I simply find it beautiful!

Freeform Crochet Scarf

unikatissima Freeform Crochet Scarf

This is not my first freeform entry ;-))
In her blog entry Carla describes in detail how she’s making a freeform crochet scarf – from the choice of the yarns to the finishing. She only uses the most basic crochet stitches (chain stitch, single stitch, double stitch and triple stitch) and doesn’t use no scrumbles (those single pieces as e.g. at the freeform needlework that must be joined by sewing or crocheting).

I really have to try this! :)
