Liebster-Blog-Award.jpg

Liebster-Blog-Award
Christiane has been so kind as to grant me the Liebster-Blog-Award.
Many thanks from the bottom of my heart!

My entry is so late because I was seldom in internet for a certain time, I’m sorry.
Also this time I won’t pass it on as expected:
I’m presenting here every day instructions, many are published on blogs.
And I think that everybody who bothers to write an entry with his or her own tutorial deserves the award already!
So I want to thank everybody again who just like this provides instructions, tips and tricks to all others!

And I’m still saying: Carry on!
;-)

Glass Paint Votive

Grids Bastelecke Glass Paint Votive.jpg

Ok, ok, a votive again ;-), but I find this winter village votive really beautiful, too :))

If you try very hard you can make 24 of these and assemble as Advent calendar.
I think that today it’s too narrow for this, but I had the idea too late.
But then, this way you’ll have enough time to design the Advent calendar for next year ;-))

The original site doesn’t exist any more and is now available through webarchive: Glass Paint Votive (WiCo* und Serviettentechnik) (German)

* Wico is Window Colours. These are those glass paints that come in plastic bottles and can be used on acetate sheets, I don’t know the exact English name.

Advent Wreath in Glasses

I really like the idea of the Advent wreath which is assembled from tea glasses :)

Advent Calendars

It’s time to think about Advent calendars, therefore I compiled a list:

Older Advent calendars
I presented Advent calendars before.

Origami box Advent calendar
On the picture you can see my Advent calendar that I’m using for a couple of years now. I folded 24 Origami boxes (but I can’t remember where the instruction came from) that I’m filling every year anew.
Addendum: In the comments of the German entry Monika said, that you can get the instruction here.

Boxes ‘Winter Village’ Advent calendar
In the same way as these picture boxes you can easily make a whole winter village with 24 houses ;-)

That’s no instruction, but I find it a beautiful inspiration.
Two Peas in a Bucket Advent calendar

Story Advent calendar
I don’t have a picture from this: quite a long time ago I selected a story where I knew that the addressee will like it, bought a pocket book with the story and cut the pages from the book.
I put the pages into 24 little packages, so that the addressee could read a part of the story every day.
Admittedly I found it very hard to destroy the book ;-)

Printable Advent calendar
There seem to be a lot of these, if I can believe the results of the Google search for ‘Printable Advent Calendar’ and the results of the Google image search for it ;-)

Another printable Advent calendar
This one simply looked a bit different ;-)

Gingerbread Advent calendar
They’re baking here a gingerbread tile and glue on beautifully decorated gingerbread cookies with sugar. Every day you’ll get a gingerbread cookie and on the last day the gingerbread tile.

Once I bought 12 pairs of cotton socks that fitted the addressee’s feet ;-), attached them to a cord and filled them.
It looked funny ;-)

Straighten Up Round Needles

unikatissima Straighten Up Round Needles
I suppose that you know the trick already, but if not: here it is:

If you have round knitting needles that stubbornly curl so that the work is no more fun anymore, lay them in hot (not boiling) water.
The plastic thread straightens up and the knitting is fun again.

I have very different needles (from plastic, wood, metal) and therefore I lay them in the hot water only for a very short time and see then whether it was enough. If not I repeat the procedure until the plastic threads lay flat.
But this way nothing can get in pieces.

Happy knitting! ;-))

Wineglass Tea Light Holder

unikatissima Wineglass Tea Light Holder.jpg

Don’t these wineglass tea light holders look nice?
Once I’ve seen an instruction for them (that’s only available now via web archive), which was meant for Christmas with little Christmas ornaments put in the glasses.

I can’t throw away anything and so I thought that it’d look nice to fill the glasses…

I can imagine as well to put flowers into the glasses, or carved vegetables or the apple swan or the little hors d’oeuvres penguin ;-)

Note: Be careful to fix the tea lights or even candles so that they can’t slip or topple over!
