{"id":4606,"date":"2010-12-18T08:01:19","date_gmt":"2010-12-18T06:01:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unikatissima-e.riamore.eu\/?p=4606"},"modified":"2010-12-15T12:02:36","modified_gmt":"2010-12-15T10:02:36","slug":"blocking-lace","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/unikatissima.riamore.eu\/e\/?p=4606","title":{"rendered":"Blocking Lace"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Blocking Lace a.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Blocking Lace\" width=\"197\" height=\"148\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"links\"><a href=\"#li101218\"><strong>Links of entry<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<p>You can find many hints in internet on how to block knitted lace, I wanted to show you how I did.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<ul>You can see the <a href=\"?page_id=4523\">Advent calendar shawl<\/a> on the picture:<\/p>\n<li>I still had two aluminium rods (1) of 5&nbsp;mm diameter and 2&nbsp;m length at home, which I threaded through the edge stitches.<\/li>\n<li>Then I thoroughly soaked the shawl in water and hang up the upper rod (2).<\/li>\n<li>I hang up weights (3) with S-hooks,&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>&#8230;where the weights where little plastic bags with paper tissue packages (4).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Blocking Lace b.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Blocking Lace\" width=\"196\" height=\"264\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>Here the details again:<\/p>\n<li>(1) is the lower rod,<\/li>\n<li>(2) are the edge stitches where I threaded the rod through,<\/li>\n<li>(3) is one of the S-hooks and<\/li>\n<li>(4) the weight: the plastic bag with the paper tissue packages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This way both rods are pulled apart and the shawl is blocked.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>But the technique isn&#8217;t perfect: I&#8217;d have needed rods for the short sides of the shawl, too, that should have been attached to the long rods, but I didn&#8217;t have the time.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s why the short sides of my <a href=\"?page_id=4523\">Advent calendar shawl<\/a> are slightly worn out, but it&#8217;s not <em>soo<\/em> bad.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Blocking Lace c.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Blocking Lace\" width=\"197\" height=\"148\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nIn a similar way you can do this with a triangle shawl: I threaded the same aluminium rods then above (1) through the holes I&#8217;ve knitted at the edge.<br \/>\nThen I added an S-hook with the weight in the last hole to really drag the points down.<br \/>\nI soaked everything in water and placed it on the ground.<br \/>\nThe weight of the water drags down the center so that I didn&#8217;t need any weight there and it didn&#8217;t wear out as much as the rectangular shawl.<br \/>\nBy the way, I covered the ground with a plastic cover because I didn&#8217;t want to wade through puddles ;-)<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>To see how others block their lace, simply search for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=blocking+knit+lace\">blocking knit lace<\/a> or  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.de\/search?as_q=stricken+(spitze+or+ajour+or+lochmuster)+spannen\">stricken (spitze OR ajour OR lochmuster) spannen<\/a> in German (results not so good).<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"li101218\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Links:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=blocking+knit+lace\">Google search result for &#8216;blocking knit lace&#8217;<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.de\/search?as_q=stricken+(spitze+or+ajour+or+lochmuster)+spannen\">Google search result for &#8216;stricken (spitze OR ajour OR lochmuster) spannen&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here at unikatissima:<br \/>\n<a href=\"?page_id=4523\">Advent calendar shawl<\/a><br \/>\nNote: After Christmas I will offer it in just one file ;-)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Links of entry You can find many hints in internet on how to block knitted lace, I wanted to show you how I did. &nbsp;
