and because astonishingly I don&#8217;t find it boring there&#8217;s a little chance that I will finish it ;-)<br \/>\nBut the chance is little and so I present it already ;-))<\/p>\n<p>What I like best is that the base is a black-and-white chart that I designed myself (PDF file below at the <a href=\"#li100409\">links<\/a>) and that most people would connect with <a href=\"?p=2044\">filet crochet or cross stitch<\/a> :)<br \/>\nIt reads soo much easier ;-)<\/p>\n<p>Please click <a href=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Knitted Lace a.jpg\">the photo at the top<\/a> to marvel at the still unfinished shawl: I&#8217;m working it up from the narrow side, the orange thread at the side marks the point where the pattern from my chart ends.<br \/>\nI want to knit the pattern three or four times.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Knitted Lace c.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Knitted Lace\" width=\"350\" height=\"264\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nThe lace patterns tends to slant, the item therefore has to be blocked very carefully.<br \/>\nBut of course not until finished ;-)<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><a name=\"howto\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>How-to:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nThe chart only shows the rows on the right side.<br \/>\nI worked the filled squares from the chart with two knit stitches,<br \/>\nfor the empty squares I knitted two stitches together and made a yarn over.<br \/>\nThe rows on the wrong side are purled, even the yarn overs.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/em> The last yarn over has to be maintained, therefore you need edge stitches, i.e. add a stitch on both sides of the row.<br \/>\nThe edge stitch will be slipped if it is first of the row and knitted if it is last.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s all there is to it ;-)<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"othermethods\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Other methods:<\/strong><\/em> Eehm, after I&#8217;ve written all this I found the article about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.string-or-nothing.com\/2006\/10\/05\/FILETKNITTING.aspx\">filet knitting<\/a> while surfing, where she presents and compares different methods to make the pattern with the holes.<br \/>\nSo if you don&#8217;t like mine try this one ;-)<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><a name=\"skopje\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Another pattern:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nBefore beginning something big as a shawl needless to say that I played around and tried another self-designed chart (PDF file below at the <a href=\"#li100409\">links<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"#li100409\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Knitted Lace g.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Knitted Lace\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><\/a> That is the pattern (if you want to work it you can download the PDF file (see <a href=\"#li100409\">links<\/a> below)).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Knitted Lace f.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Knitted Lace\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nHere I worked the filled squares of the chart as two knit stitches and the empty ones as two stitches knitted together and a yarn over (= the hole ;-)).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Knitted Lace e.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Knitted Lace\" width=\"350\" height=\"254\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nAnd here I worked it the other way around to see what I like better: I worked the filled squares of the chart as two stitches knitted together and a yarn over and the empty ones as two knit stitches.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>But of course you can do a lot of different things from these charts, you can e.g. really filet crochet or cross stitch, but also bead weave, colour knit etc.<br \/>\nBest if you look again at my <a href=\"?p=2044\">former blog entry<\/a> concerning this topic ;-)<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"li100409\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Links:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/unikatissima.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/unikatissima_cha011_flourishes.pdf\">unikatissima diagram &#8216;flourishes&#8217;<\/a> (PDF, ~210 KB) (the chart for the lace shawl)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/unikatissima.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/04\/unikatissima_cha012_skopje.pdf\">unikatissima diagram &#8216;skopje&#8217;<\/a> (PDF, ~60 KB) <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.string-or-nothing.com\/2006\/10\/05\/FILETKNITTING.aspx\">Filet Knitting<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here at unikatissima:<br \/>\n<a href=\"?p=2044\">What Can You Do With Filet Crochet\/Cross Stitch Embroidery Charts?<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Click for an overall picture) Links of entryHow-toOther methodsAnother pattern &nbsp;
