Then I cut the sheets in sections before baking.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads a.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"350\" height=\"171\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nFor the beads on the photo I<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>used a rest of white polymer clay as support,<\/li>\n<li>mixed some green and blue rests and used as base,<\/li>\n<li>cut razor-thin slices of my <a href=\"?s=cane\">canes<\/a> and added them as decoration and<\/li>\n<li>smoothed the surface carefully with a glass rod (it was meant to stir one&#8217;s tea ;-) But after I used it for polymer clay it <strong>won&#8217;t touch food anymore<\/strong>!).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Afterwards I threaded the beads on a simple leather string that matches wonderfully the colour of the beads.<br \/>\nThe used polymer clay canes are mostly transparent just as for the <a href=\"?p=197\">egg<\/a> and the <a href=\"?p=153\">flower canes of the polymer clay box<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads c.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"200\" height=\"186\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nI still enjoy this necklace.<br \/>\nI really wanted to play around a little with &#8216;jade&#8217;, especially because this is a wonderful way of using up rests of coloured, perhaps self-mixed polymer clay ;-)<br \/>\nAs for the subject &#8216;jade&#8217;: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glassattic.com\/polymer\/Faux--many.htm\">Glassattic<\/a> was a great help to me.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads d.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"350\" height=\"301\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nFor the beads on the photo I<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>mixed transparent polymer clay with a little blue green polymer clay to get &#8216;jade beads&#8217;,<\/li>\n<li>made black polymer clay beads that I carved slightly with the back of a knife after cutting them (but before baking them!) and<\/li>\n<li>made wire beads by wrapping the wire tightly around a metal rod (a metal kebab skewer) and cutting it with sharp wire cutters in regular intervals.<br \/>\nIf necessary you must file the ends a little bit!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads e.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nFor this necklace I<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>used up the &#8216;rest jade&#8217; of the <a href=\"?p=143\">carved candle holder<\/a> and<\/li>\n<li>made silver coloured mica beads (metallic polymer clay) that I carved slightly with a credit card (the dent is larger than for the black beads further up).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads g.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nBut of course you can embellish the tubular beads that are made on skewers with other techniques and in other widths, also (as you can see at the <a href=\"?p=2673\">Skinner blend beads necklace<\/a> ;-)).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads f.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Polymer Clay Skewer Beads\" width=\"350\" height=\"229\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nHere I varnished the black polymer clay sheet to be wrapped around the skewer (with I don&#8217;t remember what) in red, let it dry and pushed then the whole sheet through the pasta machine to let the varnish crack.<br \/>\nAdditionally I made some black-only beads of the same width.<br \/>\nI still find this combination beautiful ;-)<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"li091115\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Links:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nOn the topic of &#8216;faux jade&#8217;: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glassattic.com\/polymer\/Faux--many.htm\">Glassattic &#8212; Faux many<\/a> => click there on &#8216;jade&#8217; <\/p>\n<p>Here at unikatissima:<br \/>\n<a href=\"?p=2673\">Skinner Blend Beads Necklace<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"?p=197\">Transparent Polymer Clay<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"?p=153\">Polymer Clay Flower Canes<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"?p=143\">Carving Polymer Clay<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"?s=cane\">Entries containing the word &#8216;cane&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Links of entry Some time ago I presented the Skinner blend beads necklace, the &#8216;skewer&#8217; beads shown here are made in the same way.
