1 Cord"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"links\"><a href=\"#li090714\"><strong>Links of entry<\/strong><\/a><br \/><a href=\"#fingerloop\">Finger loop<\/a> | <a href=\"#kumihimo\">Kumihimo<\/a><\/div>\n<p>Recently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brandenburg1260.de\/\">somebody<\/a> showed me a simple yet beautiful <a href=\"?p=84\">finger loop pattern<\/a>.<br \/>\nAt home I tried it directly again, it is the outer cord (above and below), I braided it first to the left and then to the right.<\/p>\n<p>Then I thought that I worked such a pattern in <a href=\"?p=113\">Kumihimo<\/a> already, but the one I made worked a little different.<br \/>\nTherefore I transcribed the new <a href=\"#fingerloop\">finger loop pattern<\/a> to a <a href=\"#kumihimo\">Kumihimo pattern<\/a> (the middle cord on the photo).<br \/>\nThe <a href=\"#kumihimo\">Kumihimo cord<\/a> became much sturdier because I used quite a heavy weight.<\/p>\n<p>Both are braidung techniques and I reckon that every <a href=\"?p=84\">finger loop pattern<\/a> can be &#8216;translated&#8217; to a <a href=\"?p=113\">Kumihimo pattern<\/a> but surely not the other way round.<\/p>\n<p>Afterwards I did some research and found that <a href=\"#fingerloop\">&#8216;my finger loop pattern&#8217;<\/a> has been described on the <a href=\"http:\/\/fingerloop.org\/patterns.html\">pattern page<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/fingerloop.org\/\">Fingerloop Braids Website<\/a> as <a href=\"http:\/\/fingerloop.org\/patterns.html#n08\">&#8216;A lace bend rounde of 8 bowes &#8212; c. 1475&#8217;<\/a> (viz. it is done with 8 loops in place of 6 loops in my case) &#8211; but I never understood the notation ;-))<\/p>\n<p>Here I show you how I made the <a href=\"#fingerloop\">finger loop cord<\/a> and the  <a href=\"#kumihimo\">Kumihimo cord<\/a>, you had perhaps problems with the notation, too ;-)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a name=\"fingerloop\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Finger loop cord<\/h3>\n<p>Cut 6 threads of the same length and elasticity and lay them in half to form loops.<br \/>\nMake 3 threads per colour (here dark blue and turquoise).<br \/>\nKnot the open sides together and fix them somewhere to be able to braid with the loops (you can find more detailed instructions in the <a href=\"?p=84#li080513\">links of my entry about finger loop<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fa.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nTake the loops of one colour on the index, middle finger and ring finger of one hand and those of the other colour on the corresponding fingers of the left hand.<br \/>\nHere I took the turquoise loops on the left and the dark blue loops on the right hand.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fb.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nFirst swap the loops of the right index and the left ring finger.<\/p>\n<p>To do this lay the loop of the right index behind the loop of the left ring finger&#8230;<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fc.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\n&#8230;and take then the loop from the left ring finger on the right index.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fd.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nYou have now on the left hand two turquoise loops (on the index and the middlefinger) and a dark blue loop (on the ring finger) and on the right hand one turquoise loop (on the index) and two dark blue loops (on the middle and the ring finger).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/em> I didn&#8217;t take a photo of it, but after every swap open your arms wide to tighten the braid and make it sturdier.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fe.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nNext swap the loops of both middle fingers in the same way.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord ff.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nYou have now on the left hand one turquoise and two dark blue loops and on the right hand the other way round.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fg.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nFor now the last step is the swap of the loops of the right ring finger and the left index.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord fh.jpg\" alt=\"unikatissima Fingerloop Kumihimo Cord\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-medium\" \/><br \/>\nNow you have all three turquoise loops on the right hand and the dark blue loops on the left hand.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s been the first half of the steps to do.<br \/>\nRepeat all steps (index right-ring finger left-swap, middle finger-swap, ring finger right-index left-swap) to bring back the turquoise loops to the left hand and the dark blue loops to the right hand, then you have braid a full round.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat the steps until your cord is of desired length.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a name=\"kumihimo\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Kumihimo cord<\/h3>\n<p>Cut here too threads of the same length and elasticity, but this time cut 6 threads of one colour (here turquoise) and 6 in another (here dark blue).<br \/>\nI made the cord on my <a href=\"?p=113#te080605\">cardboard marudai<\/a>, but it was no fun at all because you have to re-lay the threads for this pattern to their appropriate places at every braid.<br \/>\nAt least by now is the moment to &#8216;construct&#8217;
