{"id":1813,"date":"2009-02-27T08:00:09","date_gmt":"2009-02-27T07:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/unikatissima-e.riamore.eu\/?p=1813"},"modified":"2010-05-15T18:29:12","modified_gmt":"2010-05-15T16:29:12","slug":"beverage-carton-crochet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/unikatissima.riamore.eu\/e\/?p=1813","title":{"rendered":"Beverage Carton Crochet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"links\"><a href=\"#li090227\"><strong>Links of entry<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<p> (<em>Click photo to enlarge<\/em>)<br \/>\nOnce I&#8217;ve seen a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\/img\/ai1998-04.jpg\">fashion photo<\/a> where I&#8217;ve been really impressed by the garment.<br \/>\nRecently, when I drank my apple juice, I thought: &#8216;Yes, that&#8217;s the right material in the right colour for this!&#8217;<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>Therefore I figured out how to make it.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>And that&#8217;s what you do:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>First cut the (washed! ;-)) beverage carton in pieces and, if you like, you can arrange the pieces in a pattern that suits you best (best done on a stiff pad, then you can carry it away carefully, if necessary).<\/p>\n<p>I cut my pieces just as I liked to (there is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\/img\/3\/_12BD5412.jpg\">another garment<\/a>), but regular shapes, square e.g. are not bad either. They were used in yet <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\/img\/9\/_12BD5587.jpg\">another garment<\/a> (here a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\/img\/9\/_12BD5589.jpg\">detail photo<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet a.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> I didn&#8217;t arrange anything and on this photo I&#8217;m checking whether the piece fits at this place.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> Subsequently prick holes into the cardboard. Try to get a regular spacing between the holes.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that the holes may not be placed too closely to the edge!<br \/>\nI had to throw away some of my snippets because the thread ripped the hole.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet c.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> That&#8217;s how my snippet looked like after the piercing from both sides.<br \/>\nThe cardboard has a nice silver coloured internal coating which makes also the backside look good.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet d.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> Afterwards I took my pierced snippet and surrounded it using a tapestry needle with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.embroiderersguild.com\/stitch\/stitches\/buttonhole.html\">button hole stitches<\/a> with cotton thread.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> The surrounding is finished.<\/p>\n<p>I worked quite loosely to 1. get on easier with the crochet (see <a href=\"#crochet\">next step<\/a>) and 2. keep my snippet in shape.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"crochet\"><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> Afterwards I crocheted <del datetime=\"2010-05-15T16:25:53+00:00\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_singlec.html\">single crochet stitches<\/a><\/del> <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20071130010429\/http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_singlec.html\">single crochet stitches<\/a> around the surrounding thread with the same thread.<br \/>\nMostly I crocheted 2 single crochet stitches, sometimes even 3.<br \/>\nAt the corners I crocheted 1 to 2 <del datetime=\"2010-05-15T16:25:53+00:00\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html#chain_top\">chain stitches<\/a><\/del> <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20071030065409\/http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html\">chain stitches<\/a> between the single crochets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet g.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> I then worked <del datetime=\"2010-05-15T16:25:53+00:00\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html#chain_top\">chains<\/a><\/del> <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20071030065409\/http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html\">chains<\/a> of about 5 stitches into the single crochets.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet h.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> I joined the <del datetime=\"2010-05-15T16:25:53+00:00\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html#chain_top\">chains<\/a><\/del> <a href=\"http:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20071030065409\/http:\/\/www.worldknit.com\/howto\/howtocrochet\/cbegtechniques\/c_chainstitch.html\">chains<\/a> with the chains of the already finished item <a href=\"?p=1279\">immediately when crocheting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"..\/uploads\/unikatissima Beverage Carton Crochet i.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignleft size-medium\" \/> That&#8217;s what I&#8217;ve done until now.<br \/>\nI can imagine making a <a href=\"?p=191\">sommer vest<\/a> from it, a belt or the top flap of a cute purse.<br \/>\nBut I haven&#8217;t decided yet ;-))<\/p>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p><a name=\"li090227\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em><strong>Links:<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nMy inspiration at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\">Marella Ferrera Alta Moda<\/a>:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marellaferrera.com\/img\/ai1998-04.jpg\">Fall\/Winter 98\/99 &#8211;
