patience, please<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#e07\">Save PDF<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#e08\">Save PDF &#8211; succeeded<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#e09\">Save PDF &#8211; not succeeded<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Startscreen<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/01.jpg\" alt=\"startscreen\"\/><\/p>\n<li>As you can see in the text below the button &#8216;press here to start YouKnits&#8217;, you can now <strong>work offline<\/strong> until you close the YouKnits designer.<br \/>\nTo start the YouKnits designer again, go online again until you see the startscreen once more.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e02\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>YouKnits just started<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/02.jpg\" alt=\"YouKnits just started\"\/><\/p>\n<li>Click &#8216;close&#8217; to <strong>close all slides<\/strong> that hide the grid now.<\/li>\n<li>You can drag YouKnits from the slides to the grey field on top to create <strong>your personal subset<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Over the YouKnits in the slides you find the <strong>set number and the price of each YouKnit<\/strong> in this set (e.g. set #02, price of each YouKnit in this set is $2).<br \/>\nBelow the YouKnits you can see their numbers (e.g. 007a).<\/li>\n<li>Right from the slides you see their scrollbar which shows that there are <strong>more slides<\/strong> (and more YouKnits ;-)) further down.<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8216;show help&#8217; to open the <strong>help window<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e05\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Help window<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/05.jpg\" alt=\"help window\"\/><\/p>\n<li>After you&#8217;ve opened the help window by clicking the button &#8216;show help&#8217; you can <strong>reduce its size<\/strong> to the titlebar by clicking on the down arrow in the titlebar (2).<br \/>\n<strong>Move<\/strong> it around by clicking on the titlebar and dragging it.<\/li>\n<li>The down arrow in the titlebar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Close<\/strong> the help window by clicking on the button &#8216;hide help&#8217; or by clicking the little white square on the right of its titlebar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e03\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Make your own YouKnits design<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/03.jpg\" alt=\"Make your own YouKnits design\"\/><\/p>\n<li>\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:0\">I dragged the (free) YouKnits of set #00 into my <strong>subset<\/strong> (grey field), because I use them often.<\/p>\n<li><strong>Below the YouKnits<\/strong> you can see their number (e.g. 003a) and where they&#8217;re from (e.g. set #00).<\/li>\n<li>The personal subset can hold <strong>21 YouKnits maximum<\/strong> in three rows.<\/li>\n<li>You can <strong>delete YouKnits<\/strong> from the personal subset by holding down key &#8216;shift&#8217; and clicking the YouKnit.<\/li>\n<li>You can <strong>move a YouKnit<\/strong> from its place in subset to first position in subset by holding down key &#8216;alt&#8217; and clicking the YouKnit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scroll your personal subset<\/strong> to see all YouKnits.<\/li>\n<li>The dark grey field where you can drag the YouKnits to is <strong>the grid<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe grid has its own <strong>scrollbar<\/strong> at its right side and you can <strong>move the grid<\/strong> by clicking on the grid and dragging it around.<br \/>\nIts <strong>maximum size is 28 x 28 YouKnits<\/strong> (equals 452 stitches x 898 rows!).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drag YouKnits<\/strong> from the slides or your personal subset onto the grid to make your personal YouKnits design.<\/li>\n<li>\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:0\">The <strong>YouKnits<\/strong> on the grid can be:<\/p>\n<li><strong>moved<\/strong> by dragging them somewhere else on the grid,<\/li>\n<li><strong>deleted<\/strong> from the grid by holding down key &#8216;shift&#8217; and clicking the YouKnit or by dragging them outside the grid,<\/li>\n<li><strong>copied<\/strong> from the grid onto the grid by holding down key &#8216;alt&#8217;, clicking the YouKnit and dragging the new YouKnit somewhere else on the grid.<\/li>\n<li>If you <strong>drop a YouKnit onto another<\/strong>, the older one disappears (is removed).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:0\">The buttons and sliders in the <strong>red box<\/strong> all work on the grid:<\/p>\n<li>add and delete rows and columns,<\/li>\n<li>clear it and make a new start for your design,<\/li>\n<li>zoom it in and out and<\/li>\n<li>undo (only!) the last action you made on the grid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e10\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Make a YouKnits design with triangles<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/10.jpg\" alt=\"Make a YouKnits design with triangles\"\/><\/p>\n<li>If you make a design with triangles you will see strange notches in the design.<br \/>\nIgnore them, please, because when you will knit your design there will be a smooth edge.<br \/>\nSee the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/youknits-lace-basic-set\"><em>how-to<\/em><\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/designers\/susann-hajjar\">ravelry<\/a>, pages 14 et sqq., the chart and the texts.<br \/>\n<em><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/em> <strong>You don&#8217;t have to be a ravelry member.<\/strong><br \/>\nI asked to open my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/designers\/susann-hajjar\">ravelry shop<\/a> for the public, and the links from the PDF <a href=\"#e04\">mentioned above<\/a> will bring you there.<br \/>\nThere you can also get the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/youknits-lace-basic-set\">free downloads<\/a> without going through paypal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e04\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Make PDF<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/04.jpg\" alt=\"make PDF\"\/><\/p>\n<li>\n<ol style=\"margin-bottom:0\">When you have finished your personal design, press the button &#8216;make PDF&#8217; to let <strong>generate a PDF file and to save it on your harddisk.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe file contains:<\/p>\n<li>an overview picture of your personal YouKnits design,<\/li>\n<li>for large patterns a page reference chart (shows which part of the YouKnits distribution chart is printed on which page),<\/li>\n<li>the YouKnits distribution chart (shows the order in which YouKnits have to be worked) and<\/li>\n<li>a list of all the YouKnits you used in your personal pattern with links to the appropriate ravelry pages.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li>The pattern in the PDF is <strong>cropped<\/strong> to the actually used rows and columns of YouKnits.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e06\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Make PDF &#8211; patience, please<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/06.jpg\" alt=\"make PDF-patience please\"\/><\/p>\n<li>If you have made large personal YouKnits designs the <strong>generation of the PDF<\/strong> may take some time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e07\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Save PDF<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/07.jpg\" alt=\"Save PDF\"\/><\/p>\n<li>After the PDF has been generated, the PDF has got a <strong>unique name<\/strong>, that you can change of course.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Save it<\/strong> on your harddisk wherever you can find it back ;-))<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e08\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Save PDF &#8211; succeeded<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/08.jpg\" alt=\"Save PDF-succeeded\"\/><\/p>\n<li>If the saving of the PDF <strong>has succeeded<\/strong>, the YouKnits designer says so.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"e09\"><\/a><\/p>\n<hr color=\"#aaaaaa\" width=\"100%\" align=\"left\" size=\"1\"\/>\n<div class=\"clearboth\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<h3>Save PDF &#8211; not succeeded<\/h3>\n<ol class=\"no-margin\"><img src=\"..\/youknits\/09.jpg\" alt=\"Save PDF-not succeeded\"\/><\/p>\n<li>If the generated <strong>PDF can&#8217;t be saved<\/strong>, then the YouKnits designer asks you to save it in another directory (folder).\n<ul style=\"margin-bottom:0\">This can happen, if you have renamed a PDF (e.g. to <em>unikatissima_YouKnits_TriangleShawl.pdf<\/em>), opened it in Acrobat Reader and then try to save a PDF under the same name.<br \/>\nYou can then <\/p>\n<li>save it under another name (e.g. to <em>unikatissima_YouKnits_TriangleShawl2.pdf<\/em>) or <\/li>\n<li>under the same name after having closed the PDF file in Acrobat Reader which will overwrite the previous PDF file or<\/li>\n<li>under the same name in another directory (folder).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Find here screenshots and descriptions of the following steps of the YouKnits designer: Startscreen YouKnits just started Help window Make your own YouKnits design Make a YouKnits design with triangles Make PDF Make PDF &#8211;
