\nThis year I offer you an Advent calendar shawl (or tablerunner :))<\/em> that is symmetrically patterned in length and shows different lace diamonds, harmoniously distributed over the whole shawl.
\nThe stockinette parts make as well the pattern as the knitting experience calm and relaxed – just the right thing in this busy time :)
\nThe pattern has a repeat of 14 stitches which allows you to decide on the width of your shawl to your liking.
\nThe pattern of day 12 can be repeated as often as you like to make the shawl as long as you wish.
\nI wish you a relaxed and relaxing Advent knit! :)<\/p>\n

The photo gives you an idea about your shawl (hopefully) without spoiling the surprise.

About the pattern:<\/h3>\n
    \n
  1. The shawl has this year
    \n\t* a lengthwise symmetrical pattern with different lace diamonds
    \n\t* a 14 stitches repeat which allows you to knit the shawl as wide as you like and
    \n\t* on day 12 a pattern that you can knit as often as you like
    \n\t\tto adapt the length of the shawl to your liking.
     <\/li>\n
  2. The pattern
    \n\t* is a multiple of 14 pattern stitches + 3 start\/end stitches + 2 or more edge stitches, and
    \n\t* has a total of 426 rows with the day 12 pattern knitted once.
    \n\t* The day 12 pattern has 28 rows and can be knitted several times if necessary.
    \n\t* The     daily instructions<\/a> contain each as well charts as written instructions.

  3. To knit the shawl you need
    \n\t* yarn with needles in appropriate size (the shawl looks as beautiful knitted in lace yarn as in fingering or bulkier yarn)<\/em>,
    \n\t* know-how about knitting yarn overs and different decreases and
    \n\t* if you like stitch markers to mark the repeats.

  4. If you want to make the shawl
    \n\t* broader\/narrower simply adjust the number of repeats;
    \n\t* shorter,
    \n\t     – use smaller needle sizes and\/or
    \n\t     – finer yarn and\/or
    \n\t     – knit less loose;
    \n\t* longer
    \n\t     – knit the day 12 pattern more than once and\/or
    \n\t     – use larger needles and\/or
    \n\t     – bulkier yarn and\/or
    \n\t     – knit more loose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    About the finished item:<\/h3>\n

    This year I knitted only one shawl.<\/p>\n

    For my shawl<\/b><\/a> I made\/used<\/b>
    \n* 3 repeats
    \n* with 6 garter stitch rows at the beginning and end, and
    \n* with 3 garter stitches at each side, and
    \n* without extra repeats of the day 12 pattern
    \n* with about 452 yards\/413 m off-white polyacrylic yarn (50 g have about 175 yards\/160 m)<\/em>
    \n* with US 9\/5.5 mm needles to
    \n* a total of 10074 stitches and
    \n* got a shawl of about 14″ x 65″ (this are about 35 x 165 cm)<\/em>.
    \nI knitted the daily pattern parts in 20 to 30 min, depending on the amount of stockinette and lace stitches.<\/p>\n

    Please bear in mind:<\/em><\/b> the size always depends on your gauge and also on the way you knit – I’m always knitting rather loosely.<\/p>\n

    You do not have to register or the like for unikatissima’s Lace Knitter’s Advent Calendar 2017<\/a>: starting with December 1, 2017<\/em> every day a ‘little door’<\/a> opens and the instructions for the next part will be unlocked.<\/p>\n

    Well, further down you will find the links to the daily instructions<\/a> from December 1, 2017 on :) and you only have to come here every day of December and download the instructions of the respective day.<\/p>\n
